You can help make a difference!

Literacy Volunteers has partnered with The Louis & Gloria Flanzer Philanthropic Trust to receive matching gifts.  When individuals contribute to Literacy Volunteers via the Flanzer Trust either online with a credit card or PayPay or by check, the trust will match donations those donations.  The Trust will not match corporate donations.  Online donations can be made online at:

On the Home page, scroll down to 2023 Match Program and click on Make A Donation.  Click on Choose Your Charity, and then scroll down and select Literacy Volunteers of South Sarasota County. Contributions between $5 and $500 per household per month will be matched 1:1.  The matching program will continue until December 31.

To contribute via check and have your donation matched, make your check out to The Louis & Gloria Flanzer Philanthropic Trust, write Literacy Volunteers of South Sarasota County on the memo line on the check, and mail it to Louis & Gloria Flanzer Philanthropic Trust, 1266 First Street, Suite 1, Sarasota, FL  34236.

Gloria Milstein Flanzer, a committed philanthropist whose family was one of the most powerful in New York City development circles, was married for 66 years to her husband, Louis Flanzer.  The couple had a home in Scarsdale, New York, but tended to spend more time on Longboat Key than up north and were known for their willingness to contribute to causes that were personally important to them in their adopted Sarasota community. Gloria died in 2015 and Louis died in 2013.  The Flanzer Philanthropic Trust continues to support our community activities through their matching program.

If you prefer to write a check directly to Literacy Volunteers (sorry, no matching funds), please print out the PDF Donation Form and send it with your check to:
